Hands on = quality ( long distance doesn't work) 20 years + 5 years. Basically my life... What have I learned that I've been fighting against??? With wishful thinking, excuses and low self esteem? That people are HANDS ON, end of discussion.
If you have to text somebody, write a letter, Skype, fly in... Then it's not real, I dont care what was promised and how good they look. You don't know who's laying next to them each night. You don't know where they go when you leave.... And it absolutely does matter. Absolutely.Life goes on, live and learn, toss the trash and clean house.
Buckets of tears later I admit. I tried " getting to know" via emails and texts and it always lead to disaster. Too much misinformation. Too much hidden stuff going on. I wouldn't even fathom trying to have a relationship with someone 30 minutes from me and definitely not with someone who doesn't have the means to meet up on a regular basis. Distance does not make the heart grow fonder, it makes the heart grow colder.
I apologise that I overpromised to someone I barely know, but they also overpromised. It was like a nightmare when reality hit. They are upset and I'm upset. And it's 98 percent because I try short cut do things on text and emails. NOTHING replaces face to face sustained contact. Period. Your going to have to pay for quality but it's absolutely worth it. Dare I say it will be the only way you can have a real relationship these days. Life goes on, live and learn, toss the trash and clean house.
